So I couldn't hold off for the "price drop" or the 2 months to get out of my Verizon contract instead I went Thursday night to get my iphone and can I just say: I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! I had a Treo once but this is just sooo much better. Although....I'm curious if you put the phone to charge when it's off does it still charge??? And, of course, for those that have had an iphone for a while any tips, shortcuts or just comments that you have are greatly appreciated.

Isn't the iPhone fantastic? I went from a Blackberry Pearl to this, and I just love it so much. Of course, if Apple makes it, chances are I have one - I'm slightly addicted.
To answer your question, yes, if it's plugged in, it will charge, regardless if it's on or off. It seems to charge faster plugged directly into the wall, but it doesn't take too long via a USB charge, either. Remember to turn the screen off when you're not using it, and your battery will actually last a surprisingly long time.

2Oh, congratulations - you're so lucky! I've been thinking of suspending my T-Mobile service, so it would only cost me $10 a month until November, and going ahead with the iPhone purchase and activation. I just can't justify the cost against my bank account, and I really want to keep my number. Guess I'll just wait until I can bring my number with me. xD
Meanwhile, I'm using the iPod Touch (which I'd sell if I bought the iPhone), and I love it, so I bet the iPhone is even better.
3The phone will charge if it is off- if you plug it into your computer to charge it you have to leave your computer on and not close the lid.

5it's somewhat necessary to fully describe these details - bear with me.
i had the iphone on it's side, and was 'clutching' it (as usual) in my left hand
i was on a web page & had scrolled pretty far down.
all of a sudden, the page zoomed back to the top. i couldn't figure out what had happened at first, then it dawned on me:
a finger on my left hand had touched & held on the time bar along the top - after a few seconds, it goes 'back to top'
tried it over & over. it's a handy little trick

6I heart my iPhone. I have had it since the first day that it came out. One of the tricks that I would recommend is that if you don't want people to know what your text messages say, you can enable the auto-lock the iPhone and when you receive a message, it will say "Person's Name - Text Message". We all know how people like to see and play with the iPhone so it might be of help. You can set it for 4 hours so that it doesn't need to be unlocked every time you use it.
